MDOT construction projects get underway this week

(AREA) — MDOT crews will start M-19 bridge repairs over the South Fork of the Cass River beginning Wednesday, June 1. The $2.1 million project includes repairs and preventive maintenance on several bridge and culvert structures in Sanilac County. M-19 will be reduced to one lane of alternating traffic over the the South Fork of the Cass River with temporary signals during construction, which is expected to be completed by August. The Michigan Department of Transportation will also invest $468,000 to widen the intersection of M-19 at Leppek Road near Ubly, adding a center left-turn lane and a northbound right-turn lane. The project will get underway on Wednesday, June 1 with an estimated completion date this August. M-19 traffic will be maintained with single-lane closures.
