Semi-truck hauling large buoy damages Blue Water Bridge

(PORT HURON) — A semi-truck hauling a large buoy damaged the Blue Water Bridge while passing under the international border crossing. The buoy it was carrying dragged across the understructure of the bridge on Thursday morning in Port Huron before it became stuck. The buoy was damaged and large chunks of concrete fell onto the roadway. Michigan Department of Transportation spokeswoman Jocelyn Hall says the damage to the bridge connecting Port Huron and Sarnia, Ontario, appears to be cosmetic and not structural. She says MDOT inspectors are checking out the bridge. The truck and buoy have been removed. The St. Clair County sheriff’s department says citations are expected to be issued.
