‘Bows for the Brave’ bowfishing tournament set for June

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) – A bowfishing tournament is planned that’s organized by a group dedicated to improving outdoor recreation opportunities for wounded veterans and others with health challenges. Michigan Operation Freedom Outdoors is scheduled to host the inaugural “Bows for the Brave” tournament June 18 at Lake St. Clair Metropark in Macomb County’s Harrison Township. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources says awards will be given to anglers with the biggest fish and the biggest five fish by weight. All fish caught will be donated to farmers to be used for fertilizer. There is no cost to be in the tournament, but participants must have a valid Michigan fishing license. Additional details are posted online.
