Radio-controlled model boats grace water at St. Clair harbor

(ST. CLAIR) — Radio-controlled model boats graced the water at an event in southeastern Michigan that sought to boost interest in boating. Sunday was the first time the Interactive RC Model Boat Show was held at the St. Clair Boat Harbor. Harbormaster Katie Stepp says the event was intended to attract families and kids while increasing interest in RC boats and in boating in general. Volunteer Tim Toepel of St. Clair is a model boat enthusiast. He helped set up miniature buoys and docks for the RC skippers. Elsewhere at the municipal harbor, the Great Lakes Nautical Society set up a display of model boats, including sailboats and a few modeled after vessels made famous in films.
