Sanilac County Drug Task Force collects 16.5 lbs. of pills during Drug Take Back Day

(AREA) — The Sanilac County Drug Task Force collected over 16.5 pounds of unused prescription drugs during National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Saturday, April 30. Residents utilized the free event to safely dispose of their unwanted and unused prescription pills at the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Department lobby in Sandusky. Several law enforcement agencies and all 29 MIchigan State Police Posts partnered with the Drug Enforcement Administration during the national one-day effort. The Drug Task Force has collected or picked up over 49 pounds of medications since last October, bringing their current total to 65.5 pounds. Residents may continue to drop off unwanted prescription pills at the Sheriff’s Office lobby during regular business hours or contact the Drug Task Force to have them picked up by calling 810-648-4580.
