Jim Wencel Running for 84th District State Representative

(HURON COUNTY) — Former Bad Axe Schools Superintendent James Wencel has announced his candidacy for the 84th District seat in the Michigan House of Representatives. Wencel is running on the Democratic ticket. He serves as Vice President of Public Finance in the Michigan office of Hutchinson, Shockey, Erley and Company, which assists school districts and municipal governments with public finance. He was a part-time superintendent for the Owendale-Gagetown Area School District, leaving that position in 2013. He was also the Mayville High School Principal from 1988 to 1994. Wencel is a member of the Michigan Farm Bureau (Huron County), MGRGO, QDMA, Michigan Association of School Administrators, Michigan Association of School Business Officials, Michigan School Boards Association, Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel, and the School Equity Caucus. He and his wife Rita reside in Bad Axe and have four grown children. The 84th House District covers Huron and Tuscola counties.
