(ST. CLAIR COUNTY) — The Armada Township man accused of robbing the Tri-County Bank in Brockway Township has pleaded guilty to the armed robbery charge. 51-year old Thomas Goullette appeared for his plea hearing Monday in St. Clair County Court. A trial had been tentatively set for April 20, but Goullette will now be sentenced for the crime on May 16. During his hearing, Goullette stated that he entered the bank near Yale on January 7 and demanded money. Authorities say the former Dryden Community Schools Superintendent brandished a handgun during the heist. Tips on the suspect pickup truck lead authorities to Goullette’s home where he was arrested January 21. His bond was set at $1 million. Goullette is also the suspect in the January 8 armed robbery of the Oxford Bank branch in Dryden Township and a warrant has been issued through the Lapeer County Prosecutors Office.
