(AREA) — Legislation introduced by 81st District State Representative Dan Lauwers enabling agricultural drivers to renew their seasonal commercial driver’s licenses at the start of the planting season received final House approval this week and is on its way to Governor Rick Snyder for his signature. Lauwers of Brockway Township says the bill ensures drivers some flexibility in obtaining the needed CDL documents when the new planting season starts. The lawmaker says the current law is overly restrictive and prevents some drivers from making a living if a planting season starts early. The legislation states that a CDL could be renewed once during a calendar year, ensuring that farmers and ranchers can keep producing food.
