Florida senator prayerfully suspends White House bid

MIAMI (AP) – Marco Rubio has suspended his Republican presidential campaign with prayers expressing his trust in God and hope for America.

After losing his home-state primary to Donald Trump, the Florida senator told disappointed supporters that he realizes “it is not God’s plan that I be president in 2016, or maybe ever.” But Rubio said he believes that “everything that comes from God is good,” and he and his family “wait eagerly to see what lies ahead.”

He’s not running for re-election to the Senate.

Rubio concluded his remarks by reciting King David’s biblical prayer of praise, and then asked God to bless Americans, the Republican party and its eventual nominee.
