Voters set to head to the polls on Tuesday, March 8

(AREA) — Voters will be heading to the polls Tuesday, March 8 and deciding on several county-wide and township proposals, along with the presidential primary. The polls will be open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. In Sanilac County, voters will see a Veteran’s Millage request, Medical Control Emergency Services Millage Renewal, Medical Care Facility Millage Renewal, and County Recycling Millage request. In Argyle Township, a Township Zoning Ordinance Amendment is on the ballot seeking approval for the development of utility grid wind energy systems in Argyle Township. Voters in Wheatland Township also have a Township Zoning Ordinance Amendment question seeking the development of utility grid wind energy systems as a use permitted after special approval in the agricultural residential zoning district. Four townships will consider road tax requests on Tuesday, including Marlette, Marion, Moore, and Argyle Townships.

In Tuscola County, the county-wide proposal seeks a tenth of a mill for 6-years to fund the MSU Extension programs. Wells Township voters have a road millage renewal, Kingston Schools are seeking a $6 million bonding proposal for partially remodeling, equipping, technology upgrades, busses, playground improvements, and updates to athletic structures and sites, as well as a operating millage renewal, and Mayville Schools are seeking an operating millage renewal.

In Huron County, Hume Township and Port Austin Township voters will decide road millage requests on Tuesday.

The 82nd District State Representative race will be closely watched in Lapeer County. Voters will fill the partial term ending January 1, 2017 previously held by Todd Courser who resigned following a sex scandal and attempted cover-up. Republican Gary Howell of North Branch is going up against Democrat Margaret Guerrero DeLuca of Imlay City. The Libertarian candidate is Tracy Spilker of Hadley. Lapeer County voters will also see the Greater Lapeer Transportation Authority Renewal millage proposal on the ballot.

In St. Clair County, Casco Township voters have a road millage renewal.
