Four injured, one seriously in Marlette Township crash

(MARLETTE TOWNSHIP) — Four people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday evening before 6 p.m. at the intersection of Decker and Frenchline Roads in Marlette Township. Sanilac County Sheriff’s deputies say the crash occurred when a vehicle, driven by a 17-year old Snover man, was traveling east on Frenchline Road and failed to stop at the intersection, colliding with Buick Enclave driven by 75-year old Kirk Dale of Marlette. Dale was traveling north on Decker Road. The impact caused his vehicle to run off the roadway and overturn, coming to rest in the bottom of a drainage ditch. The passenger in the Enclave, 75-year old Caroline Dale, was freed from the vehicle by Jaws of Life and later flown to St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw. Kirk Dale, the 17-year old driver and his 17-year old passenger, also from the Snover area, were all taken to Marlette Regional Hospital for treatment. Names of the two 17-year old boys are being withheld pending charges. Deputies say all of the occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. The Marlette and Lamotte Township Fire Departments assisted at the scene.
