Sandusky Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year Banquet

(SANILAC COUNTY) — The Sandusky Chamber of Commerce “Citizen of the Year” Banquet will be held on Saturday, March 19 at Woodland Hills in Sandusky. The doors will open at 6 p.m. with dinner served at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 each and available in Sandusky at Northstar Bank or the Tribune office. This year’s “Citizen of the Year” is Rick Cook. He is being honored for his efforts with the Sandusky Arts Council and the many changes made to the gazebo on the courthouse lawn. The “Volunteer of the Year” is Grant Stone and family for the many volunteer hours constructing the new bleachers at the fairgrounds in Sandusky and their involvement in the Sandusky athletic programs. The “Civic Samaritan of the Year” is retired Sanilac County Sheriff Virg Strickler. The “Business of the Year” is Team One Credit Union for its involvement in many community organizations and projects. This year’s Golden Hammer Award winners are Autumnwood of Deckerville, Ball Equipment, Exchange State Bank, Family Farm & Home, Southside Party Store, Sport Plus Care, Thumb Elite Athletics, Northstar Bank, the Tribune Leader Recorder, and Downtown Deli. Along with a 50/50 drawing, Miss Sanilac County Mollie Smith of Highland and Miss Sanilac County Outstanding Teen Elizabeth Wirth of Temperance will be performing.
