Filion man falls through ice on pond

(HURON COUNTY) — A 42-year old Filion area man is recovering from hypothermia after falling through ice on a pond late Tuesday night. Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson says the man left his father’s residence on Dobson Road in Lincoln Township around 10:30 p.m. on his snowmobile. He informed deputies that he had gotten the machine stuck somewhere near the residence and started walking for help. That’s when he broke through the ice on a pond and was found at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. The man was pulled from the ice with a rope and transported by ambulance to Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe. Sheriff Hanson says the man is expected to recover.
