(ST. CLAIR COUNTY) — State Representative Dan Lauwers of Brockway Township has been selected to receive Michigan Farm Bureau’s Silver Plow Award for his role in broadening the funding mechanism that underwrites one of Michigan’s premier environmental stewardship programs. Lauwers serves the 81st House District. The Silver Plow award symbolizes the non-partisan organization’s appreciation for lawmakers’ leadership and support for legislation that benefits Michigan’s $100 billion farm and food sector. Lauwers’s support for agricultural interests has earned him the trust of farmers in his district, including that of Jeddo-area dairy farmer Jim Reid, a member of the St. Clair County Farm Bureau. Reid commented that Lauwers has a talent for listening and communicating to others about agriculture. Representative Lauwers will accepted the award at the Michigan Farm Bureau’s 2016 Lansing Legislative Seminar on February 10 at the Lansing Center.
