(HARSENS ISLAND) — St. Clair County authorities have identified the body of a man found floating off Harsens Island Wednesday morning. Sheriff Tim Donnellon says the man is 68-year old Richard Wainwright of London, Ontario. Detectives were sent to the 1500 block of North Channel Drive on Harsens Island shortly after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday after the homeowners discovered the man’s body floating in a cut off the North Channel near their home. The London Police Department contacted detectives saying the body may be that of a man missing from London, whose vehicle had been located in the village of Sombra, Ontario. A positive identification was made Thursday morning. Wainwright had been reported missing from his home on Tuesday, February 2. An autopsy is planned as the investigation continues.
