(SANDUSKY) — McKenzie Health System in Sandusky is recognizing American Heart Month and the Go Red for Women campaign with LIVE SMART: Be Good to Your Heart! The promotion includes tips for healthy living, a discount on cardiac scoring for women and a Facebook contest. Throughout the month of February, McKenzie Health System is selling LIVE SMART t-shirts, with all proceeds going to the Women’s Health and Wellness Fund. The hospital is also hosting a Facebook contest and the prize is a Garmin activity tracker. Cardiac scoring is available for $41 for women during February. The test can detect heart disease in its early stages by checking for calcium in the plaque on the walls of the arteries, a sign of coronary artery disease. A portion of the cost for the cardiac scoring is being donated by the McKenzie Health System Women’s Health and Wellness Fund. On February 5, Go Red for Women, a program of the American Heart Association, asks that men and women wear red to increase awareness and support education about cardiovascular health.
