City of Sandusky seeking bids on the Elk Street Wall Project

(SANDUSKY) — At Monday’s Sandusky City Council meeting, it was announced that bids for the Elk Street Wall project will be accepted starting February 12th with a special bidders meeting on February 25th. The bids will be awarded at the March 7th council meeting. The cost for the project is estimated to range between $300,000 and $400,000 with an estimated completion date of June 20th–in time for the Sandusky Thumb Festival. The council also voted to proceed with a preliminary application for a 10-year bond to finance the wall project, as well as upgrading the city parking lot behind Ace Hardware. The bond proposal would total close to $600,000. Sandusky City Manager Dave Faber remarked that the “most-asked” question in Sandusky and every community, is whether the water contains lead. Faber says that all tests have confirmed that Sandusky’s water is 100% lead-free.
