CMU Medical Students Partner with Providers in Marlette, North Branch, and Sandusky

(AREA) — A select group of medical students will begin their 3rd year of study, practicing in Sanilac and Lapeer counties as a result of a relatively new partnership with the Central Michigan University College of Medicine. The five CMU medical students will join McKenzie Health System in Sandusky and Marlette Regional Hospital on January 18 and work with clinical physicians and staff as part of a six-month program called the Comprehensive Community Clerkship. The program aims to expand upon their previous two years of classroom studies. At Marlette Regional Hospital, Simhadri Botta of Grand Blanc and Powell Graham of Cambridge, Massachusetts will work with Dr. Jabir Akhtar. Arielle Hancu of Toronto will work alongside Dr. William Starbird in North Branch. At McKenzie Health System, Patric Knecht of Fenton and Alison MacKenzie of Bloomfield Hills will work alongside Dr. James Sams in Sandusky.
