(CUSTER TOWNSHIP) — Sanilac County Sheriff’s deputies say a deer was the cause of a single vehicle accident late Thursday afternoon in Custer Township. Deputies report that Rose Eagle of Lapeer was traveling west on M-46 near Townline Road in an SUV just before 6 p.m., when she struck a deer causing the vehicle’s air bags to deploy. After the crash, Eagle was able to pull into the Westland Church parking lot and wait for first responders. She was then transported by Sanilac EMS to McKenzie Health System in Sandusky for treatment. Police say Eagle was wearing her seatbelt and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
