Clothesline in Port Huron offers protection from winter

(PORT HURON) — A clothesline in Port Huron offers protection from the winter cold for anyone in need. Reports say that this is the second year the clothesline has been put outside the Blue Water Center for Independent Living. It holds an assortment of donated hats, gloves and scarves that anyone passing by can grab to stay warm. The center provides services and case management for about 600 people with disabilities a year. The center’s Valorie Hudgens says she fills the clothesline each weekday throughout the winter with eight to 10 items until the cold weather subsides. No one monitors who takes the items but they are always gone after each day and they are replaced with new items.
