Authorities conduct registered sex offender sweep in Port Huron

(PORT HURON) — The Port Huron Police Department recently completed a registered sex offender residence check on 120 of the 274 registered sex offenders living in the city of Port Huron. On December 30, officers and MSP troopers conducted the random compliance checks. In Michigan, sex offenders must register their address with law enforcement after conviction. Then, depending on the tier level of their conviction, offenders must verify their address with law enforcement at least annually, and up to 4 times per year for the most serious offenders. During this sweep, 113 were found in compliance. The remaining seven were not in compliance, with two having additional outstanding warrants.
