80 children participate in St. Clair County’s “Shop With a Cop” event

(FORT GRATIOT TOWNSHIP) — St. Clair County’s annual “Shop with a Cop” event was held Tuesday night at the Meijer store in Fort Gratiot Township. A total of 80 deserving children were paired up with a law enforcement officer and allowed to spend up to $100 each on gifts for Christmas. The event is organized by the Fraternal Order of Police Chapter 129 and the St. Clair County Prosecutor’s Office. Moran Chevrolet is a main sponsor of Shop with a Cop, along with the Fort Gratiot Meijer. Dozens of other businesses and individuals also donate funds to allow the kids to buy presents for themselves and their families. Those selected might not otherwise have such a Merry Christmas. Members of the Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Border Patrol, Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the Port Huron, Marysville, St. Clair, Clay Township and Yale Police Departments participated in this year’s Shop with a Cop.
