Former Capac student recognized by Michigan Farm Bureau

(AREA) — Erin Lauwers of Mussey Township was honored Wednesday during the Michigan Farm Bureau’s 96th State annual meeting in Grand Rapids. Lauwers is a senior at Michigan State University studying horticulture science and preparing for a career as an MSU Extension agent. She served as president of the Capac High School National Honor Society and ranked in the top 10 of her graduating class of 2013. Her parents, Michael and Stacey Lauwers, are St. Clair County Farm Bureau members and own a sheep farm and grow more than 2,000 acres of hay and straw. Erin is also a member of the MSU Horticulture Club and serves as a research assistant for Dr. Randall Westrick. She also served as an intern for MSU Extension Specialist Dr. Eric Hanson.
