Tuscola County farmer earns Young Ag Leader award

(TUSCOLA COUNTY) — Tuscola County farmer Janna Fritz was awarded Michigan Farm Bureau’s 2015 Young Agriculture Leader Award during the annual meeting in Grand Rapids. The award recognizes a successful young farmer for outstanding leadership roles in Farm Bureau, agriculture, and his or her local community. Fritz is a fourth-generation farmer operating JDF Farms LLC alongside her husband Joel and their sons, Wesley and Zachary. Their MAEAP-verified 1,200-acre centennial farm includes corn, soybeans, and edible dry beans. A founding member and co-leader of Thumbs Up 4-H, Fritz is also active with the Michigan Corn Growers Association and St. John’s Lutheran School Agriculture Week. For the Tuscola County Farm Bureau, she serves on the board of directors and as communications chair and newsletter editor.
