Sanilac County Police kept busy with winter storm

(SANILAC COUNTY) — Sanilac County Sheriff Deputies were kept busy throughout the day Saturday responding to several weather related crashes around the county. At about noon Saturday, 37-year-old Shaun Lanzi of Port Sanilac was traveling east on Applegate Road just west of Ridge Road when he lost control of his vehicle, went into the ditch on the south side of the road and struck a tree. He was transported to McKenzie Health System for treatment by Sanilac EMS. A short time later, at about 1:20pm, 17-year-old Keenan Siens of Minden City was traveling west on Deckerville Road east of North Sandusky Road when he apparently fell asleep, allowing the vehicle to enter the south side ditch and strike an embankment. He was transported to McKenzie Health System for treatment.

At About 2:05 pm on Saturday, Sheriff Deputies responded to another single car accident west of Stringer Road on M-46. In that accident, 31-year-old Crystal McKillop of Carsonville was driving east on M-46 when she went into the ditch on the south side. She was also transported to McKenzie Health System for treatment. Then at about 4:20pm, deputies were dispatched to Peck Road west of Cribbins Road in Sanilac County’s Buel Township where 16-year-old Joseph Dahlstrom of West Branch lost control of his vehicle because of road conditions and went onto the south ditch. The car overturned and came to rest on its roof. Dahlstrom was transported to Port Huron McClaren Hospital for treatment by Croswell EMS.

Police say that in each accident all involved were wearing their seatbelts and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
