ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) – The Detroit Lions have appointed Rod Wood as the team’s new president. He’ll oversee the business side of the organization and report directly to owner Martha Firestone Ford. The Lions are overhauling their front office after firing team president Tom Lewand and general manager Martin Mayhew. The Lions say Wood has worked closely with the organization over the past eight years in his role as president and CEO of Ford Estates. Also announced is the formation of an advisory board for the search for a new general manager. The board includes the team’s owner, its new president and its four vice chairmen: Martha Ford Morse, Sheila Ford Hamp, Williams Clay Ford Jr. and Elizabeth Ford Kontulis. The 2-7 Detroit Lions host the 4-5 Oakland Raiders at Ford Field Sunday, Nov. 22 with pre-game at Noon on 97.7 WTGV-FM.
