Hunter shoots himself in the leg in Casco Twp. Sunday

(CASCO TOWNSHIP) — Officials say a 30-year-old hunter suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound while hunting in St. Clair County on Sunday night. The man, whose name and residence were not immediately released, accidentally shot himself in the leg while sitting in a blind in a field off Hessen Road near St. Clair Highway and I-94 in Casco Township. A friend of the hunter contacted authorities around 5:30 p.m. Emergency personnel had a difficult time getting to the blind, which was located in a wooded area. Reports say it took an hour to get him to an ambulance. The hunter was transported to McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mount Clemens. His condition is unknown. The DNR is investigating.
