Hunter falls from tree stand in Washington Township

(WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP) — A 66-year old Fraser man suffered serious injuries after falling from his tree stand Sunday morning in Sanilac County’s Washington Township. Sheriff’s deputies say the homeowner at the property in the 2800 block of Burr Road where the man was hunting called 9-1-1 just after 7 a.m. The homeowner heard the hunter yelling for help after he fell about 20-feet from the tree stand. Deputies say the man was not wearing a safety harness at the time of the fall. The Fraser man was transported to McKenzie Health System in Sandusky and later flown by helicopter to Covenant Hospital in Saginaw. The Applegate Fire Department and Sanilac EMS assisted at the scene.
