Electricity transmission towers getting holiday makeover

(AREA) — Some electricity transmission towers in Michigan are getting a holiday makeover. Novi-based ITC Holdings Corp. says nine 150-foot tall transmission towers will be decorated with thousands of lights as well as signs that read “Happy Holidays” and brightly lit stars. The displays will be turned on each night starting Monday, November 16 through January 5. ITC’s Michigan entities ITCTransmission and Michigan Electric Transmission Co. operate high-voltage lines and are involved in the effort. The transmission tower lights have become part of an annual tradition for ITC. Towers being lit are in Belleville, Bridgeport, Brownstown Township, Gaylord, Grand Rapids, Livonia, Novi, St. Clair and Sterling Heights.
