Sandusky attorney sentenced to jail time in embezzlement case

(SANILAC COUNTY) — A Sandusky attorney charged with embezzlement has been sentenced to jail time. 49-year old Kimberly Kirchoff of Applegate plead no contest in September to embezzlement from a vulnerable adult $1,000 to $20,000. Authorities say Kirchoff took around $15,000 from a disabled adult in her care between August 2013 and December 2014. She was sentenced November 4 to 180 days in the Sanilac County jail with credit for one day served and 2-years probation. Kirchoff was also ordered to pay $15,260 in restitution to the estate of the 51-year old man she had been appointed guardian of. The charge carried a penalty of prison time and a possible $10,000 fine.
