Flint Firebirds reinstate hockey coaches day after firing

FLINT, Mich. (AP) – Flint Firebirds owner Rolf Nilsen says the Ontario Hockey League team has reinstated its coaches a day after firing them. Nilsen says Monday he made “an irresponsible mistake,” following a win against the Oshawa Generals on Sunday. The team owner says senior leadership met with players to apologize and met with OHL Commissioner David Branch, adding the Firebirds are cooperating with an OHL investigation. The Firebirds are in their first season after existing as the Plymouth Whalers in suburban Detroit.
