ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) – Detroit Lions coach Jim Caldwell says he doesn’t “walk in the spirit of fear” after the team fired two of his bosses last week. Team president Tom Lewand and general manager Martin Mayhew were let go, and Monday was Caldwell’s first appearance in front of reporters since then. The Lions had an open date on their schedule last weekend. Caldwell’s own job is in serious question after Detroit’s 1-7 start, but he says people should wait and see what happens before assuming he’ll be gone soon. Caldwell says he has faith that the second half of the season will be better. He said Lewand and Mayhew were like brothers to him, and he had a close working relationship with both.
