Croswell man killed in roll over crash late Thursday

(WORTH TOWNSHIP) — Sanilac County Sheriff’s deputies say a Croswell man is dead following a single vehicle crash late Thursday night in Worth Township. First responders at the scene on Wildcat Road near Sheridan Line Road found a vehicle that had overturned and hit a tree just before 11:30 p.m. Deputies say 77-year-old Gerald Nichiow was alone in a minivan traveling south on Wildcat Road, when he lost control of the vehicle, went off the roadway, rolled several times then struck a tree. The vehicle came to rest on its roof. He was extricated from the vehicle by Croswell Fire and Rescue and transported by Croswell EMS to Port Huron McLaren Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Team continues to investigate the crash.
