Lapeer County Voters Select Their Republican and Democratic Candidates for 82nd House District Rep. Race in March

(LAPEER COUNTY) — Lapeer County voters have spoken and they did not re-elect former 82nd District State Representative Todd Courser. The ex-lawmaker resigned from his seat after sending a sexually explicit email to supporters in an attempt to cover up his extramarital affair with another legislator. Winning the Republican Primary was Gary Howell of Deerfield Township. The Democratic winner was Margaret Guerrero DeLuca of Imlay City. Howell received 3,070 votes and Guerrero DeLuca garnered 2,631. There were a total of 11 Republicans and 3 Democrats in Tuesday’s race. Jan Peabody come in second behind Howell with 2,418 votes, Chris Tuski had 2,396, Ian Kempf received 2,069, Sharna Cramer Smith followed with 540, Courser 415, Jake Davison 205, Rick Guerrero Jr. 128, Russell Adams 125, Allan Landosky 49 and James DeWilde 33 respectively. Guerrero DeLuca’s Democratic challengers Eric Johnson and R.D. Bohm received 334 and 125 votes. Howell and Guerrero DeLuca will face off in the March 8 General Election for the 82nd House District representative seat.
