Suspect in fatal ATV crash arraigned

(PORT HURON) — The 27-year old Port Huron man accused of killing the driver of an ATV in Cottrellville Township Monday evening has been arraigned. Daniel Chesney appeared in 72nd District Court in Marine City on charges of operating while impaired causing death, operating under the influence of drugs causing death, driving while license suspended/revoked causing death, failure to stop at the scene of an accident, and 4th offense habitual offender. 24-year old Casey Hochstatter of Cottrellville Township was killed in the crash on M-29 when Chesney attempted to pass another vehicle near Louis Avenue and struck Hochstatter head-on. Chesney remains jailed on a $500,000 cash/surety bond. He is scheduled to appear for a probable cause hearing on November 4.
