Implosion set next month for former Marysville Power Plant

(MARYSVILLE) — Implosion of the decommissioned Marysville Power Plant in Michigan has been set for November 7. The date was announced by Public Safety Chief Tom Konik during Monday’s City Council meeting. The implosion is scheduled for 8 a.m. Good views should be in Marysville, by boat on the St. Clair River or across the river in Canada. Crews began to dismantle the former DTE Energy Co. plant in spring 2014 to make way for new development. St. Louis, Missouri-based Commercial Development Co. bought the property from Detroit-based DTE last year. The plant was decommissioned in 2011. Marysville has unveiled conceptual site plans, including a multi-floor hotel, condominium housing, shops, outdoor seating, a park and riverfront promenade.
