Farm machinery knocks TEC customers offline Monday

(AREA) — Thumb Electric Cooperative customers in Huron and Sanilac counties were knocked offline Monday afternoon after lines were snagged by farm machinery in Huron County’s Lincoln Township. Authorities say a 32-year old Bad Axe man was operating a cart and conveyor in a field near Carpenter Road, just south of Filion Road. The man lowered the conveyor and struck the power lines. He suffered minor injuries after jumping from the machinery as a fire started. Customers in Harbor Beach, Owendale, Port Hope, Verona and Sigel Townships and Sandusky were affected.
