(COTTRELLVILLE TOWNSHIP) — A 24-year old Cottrellville Township man was killed Sunday night after his ATV was struck head-on by a car. St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon says the victim, Casey Hochstatter, was driving his ATV northbound on M-29 near Louis Avenue at about 7:15 p.m. A 27-year old Port Huron man, driving south on M-29, attempted to pass another vehicle when the crash happened. Hochstatter was thrown from the ATV and suffered fatal injuries. The driver of the vehicle walked away from the crash scene and later turned himself in to a Marine City Police officer. Alcohol is believed to be a factor. The man was turned over to deputies and taken to St. John’s River District Hospital for treatment of his injuries. He remains jailed on outstanding warrants from the Sheriff’s Office and Port Huron Police. An investigation into the crash continues and charges against the driver of the car are pending.
